Olá, sejam bem-vindos!

It means Hello and welcome in my native language. I call myself Yara and I live in the largest Brazilian city, São Paulo, also known as Sampa and Land of Drizzle.

I was named after a Brazilian native entity from ancient Tupi and Guarani mithology, called Iara (also spelled Uiara or Yara), a being half-woman half-fish, an Indian warrior woman who after being persecuted by her own brothers, plunged into the encounter of waters of the Rio Negro and Solimões. The fishes of the river brought her to the surface on full moon night and transformed Iara into a beautiful mermaid with long hair and green eyes.

The word derives from Old Tupi yîara = y + îara (water + lord | lady) = mistress, lady of rivers (Queen of Waters).

I'm a self-taught artist, what means that I learned to draw and paint :by myself. I started to draw at five years old and since then I never stopped.

My favorite subject is History, especially Brazilian and Indigenous History.
I also love to learn about other cultures, other chants, other miths, from the most varied places of world.
